Water’s Edge Museum, Oxford, MD

In honor of Black History Month, Preservation Green of Oxford has shared their Gold LEED Facility, The Oxford Think Tank with the Water's Edge Museum. They have designed, built, and established the collection for this new museum dedicated to sharing the uplifting story of black life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Other than a fabulous virtual opening with speakers including Maryland's First Lady Yumi Hogan, Comptroller Peter Franchot, Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford and Smithsonian NMAAHC's La Fleur Paysour, the Water's Edge Team received a Congressional Citation from Senator Van Hollen on the opening day! Scroll down on this page of our website to view the (virtual) opening.

Preservation Green is proud to be among the first to share the story of the Founding Black Families of America. Please see the 3-minute video of Jeffrey Moaney (fellow Advisory Committee member) speaking about what it means to him to be acknowledged through the Water's Edge as a member of a Founding Black Family of Maryland: https://talbotspy.org/the-afterglow-of-ruth-starr-rose-with-jeffrey-moaney/
